How does Zincin 15 work?

Cinnarizine works by preventing constriction of the blood vessels of the inner ear. This improves the microcirculation of the ear.

Side Effects of Zincin 15

• Rare side effects include somnolence, gastrointestinal disturbances, allergic skin reactions, and fatigue.
• Extrapyramidal symptoms reported rarely, especially in elderly patients during prolonged therapy.

Quick Suggestions:

• Take it with food to avoid stomach upset.
• It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how Cinnarizine affects you.
• Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine as it may cause increased sleepiness.
• Stop taking medicine if you experience yellowing of the skin, tiredness, fever, nausea, weakness, red, lumpy, and itchy rash.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
• Do not stop taking Cinnarizine without talking to your doctor first.

Indication of Zincin 15

• Zincin's actions include anti-vasoconstrictor properties, action on blood hyperviscosity, and anti-ischaemic effect.
• It acts as a calcium antagonist, inhibiting calcium influx into cells, which improves vestibular symptoms and prevents peripheral arterial disease.

Pharmacology

• Cinnarizine acts as an antihistamine, labyrinthine sedative, and peripheral anti-vasoconstrictor.
• It is a selective calcium antagonist, preventing calcium-dependent contraction of arterial smooth muscle.

Dosage & Administration of Zincin 15

• Usual adult dose: 15 to 30 mg three times daily.
• Children (5 to 12 years): Half of the adult dose.
• Motion sickness: 30 mg two hours before the journey, then 15 mg every 8 hours during the journey.
• Peripheral arterial diseases: 75 mg two or three times daily.

Interaction

No significant drug interactions were observed with antihypertensives, diuretics, anticoagulants, or hypoglycaemics.

Contraindications

No specific contraindications, but caution advised in hypotensive patients

Safety not established in human pregnancy; not advisable for use during pregnancy
